With regular cooling maintenance, you can expect your air conditioner to last you about 15 to 20 years. Regular tuneups help ensure it runs efficiently and fixes small problems before they worsen and break down your system.
The answer depends on a few different factors, including how big your home is, the type of unit you’re considering, and your budget. Call or contact us today for an estimate—we take every detail into account, and we’ll walk you through the entire installation process and answer all your questions.
You don’t need to. Air conditioners are built to withstand the elements (yes, even our Minnesotan winters) and don’t typically get dirty. Actually, covering an A/C unit can do more harm than good—covers trap moisture, which can damage your system, and can make for perfect nesting spots for rodents, who prefer warmer spots in winter.
When set to the “Auto” setting, your fan only runs long enough to cool your home to the temperature you set on your thermostat. We recommend this setting if you’re looking to keep energy costs to a minimum.
If you set it to “On”, the fan will run continuously until you turn it off, which can provide a more consistently cool temperature. This setting may also help those who have bad allergies and asthma, as more air runs through your filter.
Two-stage cooling simply means that your air conditioner is built to work at two different speeds depending on how warm it is outside—higher when it’s hotter and lower when you don’t need cool air as much. These units are more energy efficient than single-stage A/Cs, which simply turn on and off to meet your desired temperature.
